THRANE'S METHOD
(THRANES METODE)
A film by Unni Straume
Based on the novel by Øystein Lønn
Thrane discovers Mol by the mail boxes the very same day he moves into his new apartment,
and he suddenly knows that he will be living there for a
long time.
Mol is beautiful, young and married. Every day, when she arrives warm and tanned
from the beach, Thrane just has to look at her, come close to her and smell the scent
of salt water and sun cream.
Thrane´s architect friend also meets Mol, and thinks she is so beautiful, he
can hardly believe it. Shall I keep away from her? asks the architect. Yes, Thrane
answers, who has been told that hardly anyone in town is quite as married as Mol.
And that her husband works out of town all week.
Thrane had his own method for handling life, by imperceptibly slipping away when
something came too close. But this time it will be different. This time he is afraid
it will last.
Thrane´s Method is a modern love story, which is as much about the fear of
ó as the longing for happiness.
